With Christmas right around the corner, York is as festive as can be. From the colorfully lit tree in the Breezeway, to the red ribbons wrapped around handrails and columns, around campus, students are constantly reminded of the spirit of the holiday season. Jackets replace t-shirts and jeans replace shorts as the temperatures drop and the sun sets earlier. Despite the unpredictable Monterey Bay weather, the happiest place on Earth is buzzing with jolly activity-Spirit Week, Secret Santa gifts and Christmas songs. I really sense the holiday vibes around York at this time.
It is a transitional phase in terms of athletics. Fall sports are wrapping up, with winter sports taking their place. The main thing for me that’s going on is basketball season. Basketball seems to be one of the most popular sports at York, with over 20 students for varsity and junior varsity. It feels good to play after a long day of school. Being able to play with my close friends makes it twice as good. Even when it’s a different season, there’s always something going on at the second home we call York.
