Summer is approaching! When you think about it, we only have four weeks of school left. It seems like yesterday that everyone got brand new class schedules and lockers for the year. And now we're looking forward to enjoying what summer has to offer.

For those who don't know, York has a very generous donor who is providing scholarships for York students to participate in the CIEE program. CIEE sends students abroad to help connect their different worlds. It offers language and culture, content studies, and service programs in 23 distinct countries. This is an amazing opportunity for us to achieve the dream of going abroad! Because of York and this generous donor, I was able to apply to CIEE and this summer, I am spending a month in Tokyo, Japan! A number of other York students will be experiencing a new culture this summer, too. I cannot thank York enough for finding and offering this opportunity to us. This will truly change my life and the lives of the other students participating in the program. As said by Wendell Berry, “Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.”
