CORONAVIRUS (COVID -19) RESPONSE
Currently, there are no York School community members suspected of having COVID-19.
Monterey has ordered that all residents shelter in place starting Tuesday, March 17 at midnight, until further notice. The full news release and accompanying FAQ and ORDER will help answer a lot of questions. (Also posted at monterey.org/coronavirus)
York School has decided to suspend in-person classroom teaching and transition to distance learning beginning Wednesday, March 18. Therefore, students will not return to campus for in-person classes until further notice from the school. Additionally, all extracurricular activities and school events, including athletics, are suspended. As always our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our students.We are continuously monitoring the news surrounding COVID-19 through the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and the Monterey County Health Department.
Since the beginning of the spread of this virus, the School has sent out several notices to families. Please see Coronavirus Communication from York School below.
We will continue to monitor all relevant resources for information and update this webpage accordingly.

PREVENTION (as advised by CDC):
- Get vaccinated
- Avoid close contact with those who are sick
- Stay home when sick
- Cover mouth and nose with a tissue or inside of elbow when coughing or sneezing
- Wash hands for at least 30 seconds; use sanitizer if soap and water are not available
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Disinfect regularly touched surfaces
- Get plenty of sleep, drink lots of fluids, and eat nutritious foods
